Our services

Three engagement models.
One standard of work.

We don't offer a menu of generic consulting packages. Each engagement type has been designed around a specific problem we've seen companies struggle with — and refined across dozens of real-world projects.

Service 01
Interim CTO & Technical Leadership

Most fast-growing companies eventually reach a stage where technical decisions carry too much strategic weight to be made without experienced engineering leadership — yet they may not be ready for a full-time CTO search, compensation package, or months-long hiring process. With more than 26 years of executive technology leadership across financial markets, payments, and large-scale transformation initiatives, we provide the senior technical direction needed during these pivotal phases.

As your Interim CTO, we integrate into your leadership team on a part-time but ongoing basis. Drawing from decades of leading international engineering organizations of 200–300+ FTEs, we help shape your technology strategy, guide architectural decisions, strengthen engineering practices, support hiring and team design, evaluate vendors, and act as the technical counterpart in board, investor, or customer discussions. Our background spans cloud transformation, system migrations, security and compliance, DevOps culture-building, and driving innovation in both high-growth and restructuring environments.

The engagement is intentionally transparent and finite: we focus on building capability, not creating dependency. Many clients transition to a full-time CTO after 6–12 months — often with our support in recruitment and handover — while others continue successfully with a fractional model at a reduced cadence. In either case, our goal is to equip your organization with the leadership, clarity, and technical foundation it needs to scale with confidence.

What's included
  • 2–5 days per week of embedded advisory time
  • Attendance at leadership team and board meetings as required
  • Technical hiring: job spec review, interview panel participation, offer framing
  • Vendor evaluation and contract negotiation support
  • Engineering team structure and culture review
  • Investor and customer-facing technical representation
  • Async availability between sessions

Service 02
Architecture Review

Whether you're preparing for a growth phase, responding to performance or reliability issues, or simply seeking a clear external perspective on the state of your technology — a structured architecture review gives you the insight needed to act with confidence. With decades of experience across financial markets, payments, trading platforms, and large-scale cloud transformations, we bring a seasoned, engineering-led viewpoint to the evaluation.

Over a focused four-week period, we conduct a comprehensive technical assessment. We review your architecture, infrastructure, data models, security posture, deployment pipelines, and engineering practices — drawing on our background leading global engineering organizations and modernizing mission-critical systems. We interview your engineering leads and product stakeholders, and we map your current capabilities against your strategic direction to identify gaps, strengths, and opportunities.

The output is not a list of problems. It is a prioritised, actionable roadmap — complete with business context, effort estimates, and a clear distinction between what to address immediately, what to plan for over time, and what can be intentionally accepted as a known trade-off. Our goal is to give you clarity, alignment, and a technology strategy that supports both your present and your future.

What's included
  • Technology, infrastructure and data architecture review
  • Security and compliance posture assessment
  • Stakeholder interviews (engineering, product, leadership)
  • Scalability and reliability risk identification
  • Board-ready written report (30–50 pages)
  • Prioritised remediation roadmap with effort/impact scores

Service 03
M&A & Post-Merger Integration

Investment and acquisition decisions often hinge on technical risk that traditional financial and commercial due-diligence processes are not equipped to uncover. In complex domains such as financial markets, payments, and cloud-based platforms, a codebase that appears stable can mask years of accumulated technical debt, architectural bottlenecks, hidden compliance gaps, or operational fragility — issues that become extremely costly after closing.

We conduct technical due diligence on behalf of investors, acquirers, and leadership teams preparing for exit. With more than two decades of experience evaluating and leading large-scale engineering organizations across exchanges, trading systems, clearing and settlement, and global payment platforms, our assessments reflect real engineering reality — yet are communicated in a way that non-technical stakeholders can fully understand. We are comfortable presenting findings to investment committees, engaging with management teams, and addressing questions from all sides of a transaction.

We work under NDA and operate with full confidentiality. When needed, we also collaborate directly with the target company’s technical organization to run a constructive, transparent, and non-adversarial review. Our goal is to illuminate risks early, highlight strengths, and provide clear, actionable insights that support confident, well-informed investment decisions.

What's included
  • Technical assessment
  • Team capability and key-person dependency analysis
  • IP ownership and open-source licence audit
  • Security and data compliance review

Common questions
Things people ask before engaging

Straight answers to the questions we hear most often.

Do you share pricing on the website? +
We don't publish fixed prices because engagement scope varies considerably — a Interim CTO for a longer term close to full time will look different than a short assignment. We discuss investment openly on the first call and provide a clear, all-in figure in the written proposal. No surprises.
Can you work alongside an existing CTO or engineering leadership team? +
Yes — and this is actually one of the most common scenarios. During a handover period, we often work alongside the existing VP Engineering or Head of Engineering to provide continuity, an independent perspective, and board-level communication support. We also bring specialist expertise the team may not yet have in-house. Our approach is collaborative and supportive, ensuring a smooth transition rather than creating any territorial friction.
What sectors do you have experience in? +
We have extensive experience in the financial markets sector, working across trading platforms, exchanges, clearing, and settlement systems. We also have deep expertise in the payments industry, spanning e-commerce, acquiring, and in-store payments within global organizations such as Ingenico, Worldline, and Bambora. Our background includes significant work in WealthTech, building and modernizing data-driven platforms for financial institutions across Europe. In addition, we bring long-standing experience in technology leadership and large-scale transformation, supporting both private-equity-backed high-growth companies and major listed enterprises.
How quickly can you start? +
For Architecture Reviews and Due Diligence, typically within 1–2 weeks of the proposal being signed. For Interim CTO engagements, we can usually be embedded within a week of agreeing scope. If you have an urgent situation — a deal with a tight timeline, a production crisis — contact us directly and we'll tell you honestly what we can do.
What happens after the engagement ends? +
All engagements close with a structured handover — documentation, knowledge transfer sessions, and a transition briefing. For Interim CTO work, this often includes helping you find and hire a permanent CTO. If you may need to continue as informal alumni with occasional ad-hoc conversations; we don't charge for these.
