Our story

Built by own experience,
for the people
building things.

Lazuli Tech Consulting was founded on a simple belief: the most valuable technical advice comes from people who have actually done the job — shipped the systems, led the teams, sat in the board meetings, and lived with the consequences of their decisions.

The name Lazuli is a reference to lapis lazuli, the rare and vibrant blue pigment once treasured by master oil painters. For centuries, it symbolized clarity, depth, and craftsmanship — qualities I’ve always admired through my love of fine art (quote from the founder). Just as artists used this exotic pigment to bring their most meaningful work to life, Lazuli Tech Consulting brings depth, precision, and creativity to every technical challenge we take on.

Anna Almén
Founder & Principal Advisor

I spent 26+ years inside technology businesses — as an individual contributor, a team lead, an engineering director, and eventually a CTO. I loved the work. I’ve spent years in navigating the complexities of corporate expansion, acquisitions, system migrations, outsourcing, hyper growth and the tough realities of cost-cutting and restructuring. These experiences have sharpened my strategic thinking and strengthened my ability to lead with clarity and resilience.

I started Lazuli Tech Consulting because I wanted to help companies that face different  problems that I learned to overcome  without the constraints of a full-time role. The independence lets me bring honest, unfiltered judgment to every engagement. There's no career politics, no incentive to over-scope, no agenda beyond getting the technical foundations right.

The engagements I care most about are the ones where the focus is on the business  what the company want to do and serve their customers  — not just the codebase. That's what I'm here to do.

How we work
Principles that guide every engagement

These aren't values carved on a wall. They're the commitments we make to every client before we start.

01
Honesty before comfort

We tell you what we actually think, not what you want to hear. If your architecture has fundamental problems, you'll know — along with a clear path to fix them.

02
No hand-offs, ever

The person you meet in the discovery call does the work. We are not a firm that sells senior experience and delivers junior effort. If our capacity is full, we say so.

03
Work that outlasts us

Every engagement ends with documentation, knowledge transfer, and a team that understands the decisions made. We're not building dependency — we're building capability.

04
Right scope, right price

We scope precisely to what you need. If a two-week review is the right answer, we won't sell you a six-month retainer. Correct diagnosis before prescription.

05
Board-fluent, engineer-trusted

We can explain a platform migration risk to a CFO and a microservices trade-off to a senior engineer — in the same week. Translation is half the job.

06
Deliberate smallness

We take a limited number of engagements at any time. Not to be precious — but because excellent advisory requires genuine availability and focused attention.

Enough about us — let's talk about you.

A 30-minute discovery call costs nothing and commits you to nothing. We'll listen, ask the right questions, and tell you honestly whether we can help.
